14 People Killed in Bus Crash Involving Canadian Junior Hockey Team

The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) reported the news Saturday and noted the Broncos were traveling to Nipawin in Saskatchewan, Canada, for a playoff game when the fatal collision occurred.

“This is much larger than anyone can begin to imagine,” team president Kevin Garinger told CBC. “We are just in utter disbelief and shock at the loss that’s fallen upon us.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded in a Twitter post late Friday night.

“I cannot imagine what these parents are going through, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, in the Humboldt community and beyond,” he wrote.

CNN noted players on junior teams are between 16 and 20 years old.
