A surprise winner has made off with the grand prize in the Paul George sweepstakes. The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis for the Pacers star this evening, per a report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

George has been very public about his desire to head to L.A. to play for the Lakers after his contract expires following the 2017-18 season, so the Thunder are clearly gambling. However, if George and Russell Westbrook win big, they might be able to mount a very convincing case for him to stay on the prairie. He’d be the perfect complementary star for Russ, as he’ll take a hefty share of the scoring load, can play off the ball, and lock down opposing wings. He might not be Michael Jordan, or even LeBron James, but Steph Curry has just agreed to what amounts to the richest deal in NBA history.

The five-year deal with the Golden State Warriors is worth $201 million dollars with no options, as confirmed by Curry’s agent Jeff Austin of Octagon.

USA Today Sports reports that Curry had previously been on a four-year, $44 million dollar contract, but if you do the math, he now gets about $40 million a year. Guaranteed.

Curry, a two-time champion, is the first player to agree on a deal worth more than $200 million.

Plenty money for curry in the pot!
