’60 Minutes’ Australia TV Crew Attacked By Masked Men On Air In Sweden

Swedish news website Avpixlat reported the crew ran into trouble when they tried to film in Rinkeby. As the crew entered the suburb, a man drove up to a camera and asked why they wanted to film there, then deliberately drove over the cameraman’s foot.

One cameraman “was beaten right across the chin so that a tooth [came] loose,” local journalist Jan Sjunnesson wrote for the website Avpixlat after the incident.

Sjunnesson said the men waited until policemen assigned to protect the crew left before they startrd the attack.

“Liz Hayes and a 60 Minutes crew are currently on assignment in Europe where they are reporting a story about the migrant crisis,” Australia’s Channel 9 said in a statement released Tuesday. “In a suburb of Stockholm yesterday they were confronted by a group who objected to them filming. There was a series of scuffles and the police were called. The 60 Minutes cameraman and producer were slightly injured but filming continued with police at the scene.”

The station declined to give further comment for the newspaper’s story, but said Sjunnesson’s depiction of events was “accurate.” The “60 Minutes” broadcast is scheduled to air within weeks.
