A Big Win for Obama–but Perilously High Stakes for 2nd Term

Tuesday was a big, big win for Barack Obama and the Democrats — four more years rewarded on the strength of the achievements of the first term.

But the stakes for a second presidential term haven’t been higher since 1936, when Franklin D. Roosevelt doubled down on the New Deal and promised that relief, still elusive for millions of Americans, was soon coming.
