A Ridiculous Reporter Is Trying to Claim Maxine Waters ‘Shoved’ Him

But, that’s not the story Tracey told. According to him, Maxine Waters’ brushing him aside was one (or all) of these words: a shove, push, swat, and/or unwarranted physical contact. He characterized the shove as not “excessively violent” and not an “assault,” but within those qualifications is an implication that the encounter was, on some level, violent. By saying it wasn’t “excessively violent,” Tracey implies there was some level of violence. There was none.

Here’s how appears to have gone down, according to a video of the incident: The interview began with Tracey asking Waters a somewhat strange question. “During a one week span in March, I looked at your tweets, and about 60 percent had to do with this Russia issue. Do you think that’s a proportionate focus?” Tracey asked, somehow implying that cherry-picked statistics about Waters’ social media posts is a meaningful measure of her work and focus.

Waters responded that yes, indeed, “We can walk and chew gum at the same time.” She went on to add that “Russia is not our friend… They are undermining our democracy.”

Tracey then asked his “gotcha” question: If Russia isn’t our friend, why was President Barack Obama negotiating the use of military force with Russia with regards to Syria toward the end of his administration?

Waters decided in that moment she didn’t have time for any more of this reporter, moved his arm holding the microphone aside with her wrist and walked away. All in all, it was a pretty uneventful exchange, and to say otherwise is a blatant mischaracterization.

Tracey is like a tattletale second grader who was lightly touched by another student on the playground and immediately runs to the teacher to cry that he was pushed to the ground. So I will say to him what any second grade teacher would say: Brush yourself off and forget about it. It was nothing.
