The FX series will be directed by Allen Hughes who along with his brother Albert Hughes has directed classic films such as Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and Book of Eli. Individually, Allen has served as a producer for The Defiant Ones, From Hell and American Pimp.
Allen and his brother have an interesting history with Pac. They directed his first music video Brenda’s Got a Baby.
They also cast Pac in the Menace II Society but it didn’t work out which led to friction between them and the deceased artist. Ultimately it led to Pac beating up Allen Hughes in California while he and his brother were trying to shoot a music video.
It seems a little bit ironic that Allen would want to direct a documentary on Pac, but then again maybe he is the best person for the job. Let’s just hope for us Tupac fans that he prsentts the story in a fair and unbiased way.
