At Least 5 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot in Active Shooter Scene

Not much is known yet, but sources say the three cops were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. One was shot in the hand, another in the leg. The incident began around 4:30 p.m.

This is still an active situation. Dozens of cops are on the scene, ducking behind cars for cover. One officer was seen limping and rushed to a car by fellow officers.

The mayor, district attorney, and police union president are all en route to Temple University Hospital.

Police are surrounding a house on the block. Some officers may be inside. Police appear to have one person in custody.

They are urging the public to stay away from the area.

The police situation here at Broad and Erie has @Septa cars bypassing the Erie station. We aren’t allowed to leave the subway corridor and we apparently aren’t allowed on the trains either.— Mike Dougherty (@MicDougherty) August 14, 2019
