Several reports have come out that singer R.Kelly was attacked by a fellow inmate in his jail cell. According to TMZ, the incident occurred at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. R. Kelly’s Attorney Douglas C. Anton told Billboard that R. Kelly was sitting in his bed when another inmate came in his cell and start punching him.
“I spoke to him and he is not OK,” Anton said. “He is not doing well. This even more reason why he needs to be released. They cannot protect him in the facility.” Kelly has been locked up for more than a year without bail. He is waiting to go on trial on 10 charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse tied to allegations that he sexually abused four women, three of whom were minors at the time.
