After a two-year investigation into the online classified site Backpage.com, a U.S. Senate report accused the site of deleting words like “rape,” “teenage,” and “school girl” from its adult ads to hide sex trafficking and prostitution, including that of children. In response, Backpage.com closed its adult ads section Monday, claiming “unconstitutional government censorship” that infringed on its First Amendment rights, The Los Angeles Times reports.
