Big Glo Dead: Slain Rapper Was Chief Keef’s Cousin

big glo 2He had been shot multiple times and was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:29 p.m.

Hess, who rapped under the names Big Glo and Blood Money, had recently signed to Interscope Records, his publicist said in a statement. Hess had already recorded several songs for his debut album alongside Chief Keef and Cory Gunz.

Renaldo Hess, a cousin who manages Mario Hess and Chief Keef, told the Sun-Times Mario Hess had received a $50,000 signing bonus. He spent a portion of the cash on bills, family and a car.

Renaldo Hess said he wanted to get Mario Hess out of Englewood as soon as possible, the Sun-Times reported.

“I just spoke to him two days ago and I could sense something wasn’t right,” Renaldo Hess told the paper. “Whenever you get money people in Chicago start looking. They don’t have money and he was flashing $8,000. Other people looking to stick him up.”

Mario Hess was shot as many as 10 times Tuesday night, the Tribune reported.

“He was basically trying to just get his rap career together because that’s a good opportunity,” Renaldo Hess told the Tribune. “They gave him some money up front. It was a good chance for him to get himself out the hood.”

A second man, 33, was also wounded in the shooting and taken to Stroger, but police couldn’t say how seriously he was injured or where he on his body was shot.
