Black Thought Doesn’t Have Nas, Pac or Biggie in His Top Five and Thinks He May Invented Mumble Rap

Since his legendary freestyle on Funk Master Flex Show, people have been saying what most Hip Hop fans already knew: Black Thought is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. Ambrosia For Heads shared an interview last year of Black Thought with Toure at the Brooklyn Center.  Thought mentioned that he and The Roots may have started the mumble rap trend on their 2004 song “Don’t Say Nothing.”  He also expressed his feelings on the touched on his feelings greatest emcee debate, “Today, I think I’m one of the greatest of all time.” Thought said. He continued on the subject by saying “Like when people are ranking artists—ranking MCs, rappers of all-time, dead or alive, or whatever, I’m always in that Top 10. I feel like that’s not [bad]; there have been so many other artists who came out before I came out, and since I’ve been out here, doin’ my thing. I feel like that’s a great company to be in.”  He also gave his top five list of the greatest MC’s, naming “Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, and Chuck D” as his favorites.
