Bloody Month of September in Chicago

To this very day, I couldn’t tell you how the shooter looks or what he was wearing. It was all a blur; you don’t see or feel anything. You just react and use your instincts. This is in a sense could be called survival instincts; and is needed growing up in the streets of Chicago. It sometimes can be a pleasant place and other times a warzone. Lately it has been more of a warzone.

I bring this up because I just got through reading the statistics regarding the violence in Chicago. Just in the month of September, there were over 55 people killed and 288 people shot. This made the month of September the bloodiest month in over decade. According to Dnainfo.com, there was a 38 percent increase in shootings from last year.

When you think of all the shootings and killings, you start to wonder about the psyche of other people. Even though that story I told was over 15 years old, it still seems fresh. The trauma really never leaves you and sadly you become immune to the violence. There is a deduction of shock value when children and innocent bystanders are constantly getting killed.
