Boi-1da Talks About How He Keeps Drake and Rihanna Hot and Starting His Own Label

Toronto producer Boi-1da who has created hit songs like “Work” by Rihanna and “Controlla” by Drake talked about how his dancehall roots influence those songs. “I actually listened to dancehall before I listened to hip-hop. That beat in particular came from being around my dad, he used to play dancehall. He listened to Beenie Man, Sean Paul… That beat was literally a 90s dancehall moment in 2016.” he said. He also talked about starting a new label and releasing a new artist named Joyner Lucas. “First time I ever heard of him, I was like, yo, I need to work with this guy.”  he said about working with Lucas.  To read his full interview with medium.com click here.
