Carmelo Anthony Deserves a Better Exit from the NBA

Anthony was released from the Houston Rockets after only 10 games this year. The season before, he had a not so good year playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite the last two seasons, I still believed that Melo was one of the best scorers in NBA history, or definitely from his generation.  The 6’8 small forward with the wide body could score from anywhere on the floor. With the transition of the NBA turning into a three-point happy league, Melo didn’t adjust. He wasn’t a spot-up shooter from behind the arc and that crippled his game when his athletic ability started to decline. Nonetheless, he was still was an effective scorer, even when he left the league this year.

The same night that DWayne Wade retired, Dirk Nowitzki also made his retirement official from the NBA.

All three had career 20 points a game averages, multiple All-Stars, and All NBA appearances.  The main difference is the playoffs and championships. Wade is a three-time champion with an NBA Finals MVP. Dirk has won a championship and also won the NBA Finals MVP. Both of those players stepped up their games when it came to playoff basketball. On the other hand, Melo has never made it to the NBA Finals, and some people think he didn’t carry his team the way he supposed to. Especially after he came in the NBA after leading his college basketball team to a championship as a freshman
