Carson Wentz Is a Lot Better Than Jared Goff in ‘Madden’

After Goff was taken No. 1 overall by the Los Angeles Rams and Wentz went second to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 NFL draft in Chicago, the two quarterbacks made their way to EA Sports booth where they got a chance to play as themselves in Madden 16 Ultimate Team.

It’s safe to say Goff’s Madden skills need some work. The entire play session is shown in the video above.

Things got off to a rough start early, but Goff can’t take the fault for the slow break out of the gates. EA Sports Digital Content Manager Zach Farley ran cyber Goff on a read-option play and the results were…uncomfortable.

The cyber version of Goff was injured. It was a hilarious moment on the stream, and it takes place at the 3:30 mark of the video. You can hear Goff ask: “Did you just get me injured?”

Cyber Wentz was then put in the game to replace him, and he actually picked up the sticks to control the action. Wentz immediately hit the Madden Ultimate Team version of Odell Beckham Jr. for a 71-yard completion.

Wentz then started diagnosing coverages and picking hot receivers against the blitz. It was pretty awesome.

Assuming he becomes a good player in the real NFL, EA Sports couldn’t find a better cover guy for a future version of the game.

He’s a quarterback who actually understands the game. Before the gameplay started, he talked about how actually playing the sport in real life helps him be better at Madden.

Oftentimes the guys on the cover haven’t played Madden since they were 13, so there’s a disconnect between them and the hardcore fanbase. That wouldn’t be the case with Wentz

The two didn’t play for long, but Wentz won the first of what could be a series of head-to-head matchups in the NFC. The next few meetings figure to mean a lot more.
