Yesterday (Sept. 4th) Chicago Mayor Emanuel Rahm announced that he would not seek a third term in office. Rahm has been Chicago’s mayor since 2011 and hasn’t been the most popular person in the city. Chicago’s high level of violence, police corruption an closing of the public schools have caused a lot of people to call for Rahm to leave office.

Two of his loudest critics, have been Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. Both seemed pleased that Rahm is leaving office and let the world know it. “Shoutout to all the grassroots orgs like @AssataDaughters @BYP_100 and many others that pushed for accountabily and resignation from Rahm. His announcement to not run however, is not Justice for Laquan McDonald, only convicting muderer Jason Van Dyke can bring that.” Chance tweeted out. Vic Mensa was less diplomatic about Rahm’s departure. He told TMZ, “Emanuel is a corrupt, dishonest career politician who has always been about power and not the well-being of the people.” Mensa also added that Rahm is  “slimy dog” with no morals, no spine … and no true connection to the city.” The mayor will be officially leaving office next May.
