After being rejected to give the graduation speech at a New Jersey university; Common will still be scheduled to speak at a ceremony for the Chicago City of Colleges in May. A police union in New Jersey complained about Common coming to New Jersey-based on his song “A Song for Assata” That song was dedicated to Assata Shakur who was accused of killing a New Jersey State Trooper.
