Chicago Fried Chicken Battle: The Reason Lupe Fiasco Made A Song About Harold’s and Not Uncle Remus

Perhaps one of the most famous food battles is between two fried chicken restaurants, Harold’s and Uncle Remus. Harold’s locations are mostly on the South side and is the people out there swear it is the best. Native South-sider, Chance the Rapper has shouted out the “fried chicken king” on several occasions. He has done national interviews in Harold’s restaurant on 79th and even had his birthday cake designed in the form of Harold’s carryout bag.

On the other hand, Uncle Remus is located on the Westside and people out there swear it is the best fried chicken in the city. Random debates have been going on for years between the two sides about who has the best chicken.

Recently, Lupe Fiasco made a song paying homage to Harold’s and posted it on Twitter.

The thing about that, Lupe is from the West side and that had people wondering why he didn’t make a song about Uncle Remus? Turns out Lupe has a valid reason why he doesn’t eat Uncle Remus chicken; check out his response on Twitter below.

I must admit , I like Harold’s and Uncle Remus chicken, but as a West side native, I do prefer Uncle Remus because I like their mild sauce. However, since I don’t eat pork, hearing Lupe’s reason makes me change my mind about my choice. Which fried chicken do you prefer? Leave your comments below.
