Chicago is joining other cities like Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Milwaukee in using computer algorithm technology to try and predict where crime will occur in the city. One of those methods is called the Strategic Subject’s List which compiles the name of individuals who are likely to commit a crime before they do it. The SSI was developed by the Illinois Institute of Technology and is compiled on eight factors which include gang affiliation and prior drug arrest records. The people on this list are assigned a number between 0 and 500. If you have a higher number then that means you are more likely to commit a crime. According to Reuters, the Chicago Police are tight-lipped about revealing more details about the Strategic Subject’s List. To read more about this story click here.
