Chicago Police commissioner of the 1st district, Richard Boykin, said there were a lot of “unanswered and troubled questions” regarding the fatal shooting of a man and woman this weekend. Police were called to an apartment complex on Saturday following a domestic disturbance. Quintonio LeGrier, 19, a Northern Illinois University student, who family members say has mental illness issues, was killed after being shot 7 times by police officers. LeGrier, who had a baseball bat, was in the hallway talking to his downstairs neighbor Bettie Jones.
Instead of using any alternative tactic, the officers shot through the door, in the hallway, striking LeGrier and his neighbor Bettie Jones. Jones, 55, was a mother of five, and grandmother of six. A spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police Union declined to comment on the incident. To read more about this story click here.
