There’s no doubt that Public Enemy’s Chuck D. is one of the founding fathers of modern hip-hop, but the icon has never been one to rest on his laurels. “Right now, at my age and stage, if I can’t teach I shouldn’t even open my mouth to speak,” D. says flatly when asked about how he views his current status as elder statesman of rap.
