Da Baby is learning that statements against Gay people will destroy your career

The festival was Livestream so people were able to comment in real-time. Some people started to criticize Da Baby immediately and the backlash has continued. Da Baby was pulled from the Lollapalooza lineup in Chicago this past weekend. The decision was made at the last minute and the festival was released on its Chicago Twitter page. “Lollapalooza was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love,” the statement starts. “With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight. Young Thug will now perform at 9:00 pm on the Bud Light Seltzer Stage, and G Herbo will perform at 4:00 pm on the T-Mobile Stage.”

It is also being reported that he was removed from U.K.’s Parklife Festival lineup due to his comments. The fashion brand BooHoo who works with Da Baby also released a statement on social media

Entertainers such as Elton John, Victoria Monet, Demi Lovato, and others spoke out against Da Baby. Questlove of The Roots had this to say about Da Baby’s comments.

Da Baby has since tried to clarify his comments, but it seems the damage has been done. I’m not supporting Da Baby’s comments, but it should be noted that the LGBTQ community is very powerful. Speaking out against them, in any negative manner could be career suicide for an entertainer of Da Baby’s status. Right or wrong, someone should have warned him about this beforehand.
