Dabrye Connects With Ghostface Killah on ‘Emancipated’: Premiere

Dabrye thrives at the intersection of experimental electronic sounds and hip-hop and for his latest ruse, the producer weaves together a rhythmic beat replete with incessant drum strikes and a piercing video game-like sound effect. Ghostface’s aggressive, gritty flow coasts seamlessly over the Dabrye’s elaborate production. As the song reaches its climax, the Michigan producer samples his Two/Three cut “Special” and injects old-school hip-hop scratches, salute Killah’s hometown of New York City.

Dabrye told Billboard that piecing together Three/Three forced him to reflect on the evolution of his sound. “I came to something that was light and rugged, sparse and mean, and somehow both ancient and futuristic,” he said. “Ghostface was the missing piece. He brings the track together and heightens the concept. It’s honestly a dream come true to have him on this album.”

Dabrye recently doled out “The Appetite” featuring Roc Marciano, Quelle Chris, and Danny Brown off his upcoming album. Three/Three, which drops in spring 2018, will also see features from Doom, Jon Wayne, La Peace and more.
