Damon Wayans recently revealed he will not be returning next season to FOX television series Lethal Weapon. “I am 58 year old diabetic and I’m working 16 hour days,” said Wayans. In addition to his health and workload, Damon also said he wants to spend more time with his family.  “It’s hard for me to play this loving, supportive father/husband/ friend on TV, but be the guy in life that is telling everyone, I can’t I have to work,” he stated.

Lethal Weapon is wrapping up its second season and Wayans said he will do the filming for 13 episodes this season but will not be back for the next one. There was public tension between him and Clayne Crawford on the show. Variety published a video of the two trading verbal insults toward each other earlier this year. Crawford was replaced by Seann William Scott, but Wayans did not mention the tension with his former co-star or the transition to a new co star as one of the reasons for leaving. “You have to look yourself in the eye and ask, who are you? It can’t be all about work. I’m from a big family, a loving family. All the family gatherings, I haven’t seen them. I’m too tired or I can’t because it conflicts with work… I have seven grandkids. I’ve been missing recitals and graduations. To me it’s just not worth it. There is a better way to live life,” he said
