Death of Stephon Clark Provokes Changes in Foot Chase Policy for Sacramento Police Department

The Sacramento Police Department has introduced a new police regarding police foot pursuits of suspects. The announcement comes in the aftermath of Stephon Clark who was gunned down in March of this year by police officers chasing after him. The new policy requires officers to start their body camera before the pursuit, broadcast why they are starting the pursuit and give a description of the suspect. In addition to that officers can stop the pursuit “”if the risk of pursuing outweighs the need for apprehension.” To read more about this story click here.
