ESPN confirmed that it pulled Asian-American announcer Robert Lee from its telecast of the home opener game between the University of Virginia and William and Mary. The removal stemmed from the similarity in name to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. Recently White nationalists marched on the UVA campus in protest of the proposed plan to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee. The following night violence broke out in Charlottesville Virginia. ESPN said in a statement that they “collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding.” To read more about this story click here.
