Even the Devil Need Jesus: Ex-Governor Sentenced to Two Years

He and his wife Maureen McDonald were caught taking gifts and money from Richmond businessman Joonie Williams. After the sentencing, he spoke with reporters and said that “he has faith in the judicial system but bigger faith in Jesus Christ.”

I pause the video and thought about that statement and the significance of it. It is funny to me that no matter the stature of a person, in the end they always resort to God. I had friends who didn’t acknowledge the power of God in the past. However when confronted with a life altering event such as incarceration, they somehow find God. I’m not saying this is a bad thing nor am I passing judgment. I’m simply echoing an observation of a consistent theme that has occurred throughout mankind.

I would imagine a spiritual mind over a carnal mind is necessary when one is caged like an animal. M father said jail is no place for a human being and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I hope the former Governor and his wife make this unfortunate situation into a positive one.

“Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” (St. John 6:67-68)
