Exclusive BTN Interview: Cee-Lo Green Talks About New Music and the 25th Anniversary of Goodie Mob Second Album

It is hard to imagine how one man has been through so many musical transformations. Yet and still Cee-Lo has maintained his journey by staying true to what he feels. I got the pleasure of catching up with Cee-Lo after a show in Chicago performing with Goodie Mob. Despite just getting off stage and taking pictures with the long line of fans who came to see him, he took a few minutes to answer a few questions for me.

Black Truth News: Good to see you brother

Cee-Lo Green: Thank you brother, it’s good to be here.

BTN: Are you planning on dropping a new project soon?

CLG:  Brick Road that’s the first single I released, in association with Empire and my independent imprint Sony Mothership. You know I was trying to get my feet wet and let niggas know we still talk turf; ya feel me.

BTN: You have so much diversity as an artist, how do you balance that?

CLG: You know, I still try to put my little spice on it; you know what I’m saying. The new single is definitely Hip Hop and it remind me of some old school 90’s shit. You know that Jay-Z feel, like Nas, “The World is Yours.” I was vibing on that when I created it.

BTN : You shot that video out in New York right?

CLG: Yeah we shot that out in Harlem. Like we here, you know what I’m saying (Laughs)

BTN: Even though we know you are a great singer, Hip Hop fans like myself want to see a entire album from you. Any hopes of you giving us that?

CLG: I actually got that for you, but we just facilitating it out now at the right time. We trying to get all the formalities together and seeing how we going to release it. I got you though, trust me, the product is there. It is already cooked and cut up for you.

BTN: Now I want to say congratulations on you and Goodie Mob celebrating the 25th anniversary of your second album; Still Standing. Any new plans for the group?

CLG: We just moving off supply and demand bro. Whatever is out there for us, we going to get it. ya feel me.

BTN: I feel you, and I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me bro.

CLG: Love bro.
