A high-powered commission said Wednesday that intellectual property theft was costing the United States the equivalent of all its exports to Asia and urged a tougher approach to China.

The 11-month study led by high-ranking former US officials said that theft of software and other US-developed products was costing the US economy more than $300 billion each year — as much as the United States sells to Asia.

“The scale of international theft of American intellectual property today, we believe, is unprecedented,” commission co-chair Jon Huntsman, the former US ambassador to China and presidential candidate, told reporters.

Chrysler announced Tuesday that it would bow to the US safety regulator’s pressure to recall 2.7 million Jeep Liberties and Jeep Grand Cherokees over a fire risk.

Two weeks after rejecting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recommendation for a recall, Chrysler said it would “conduct a voluntary campaign with respect to the vehicles in question” for inspection and possible modifications.

Two female inmates have sued a Texas county and three former jailers for running what they said was a “rape camp” at the county jail.

In a court filing obtained by Courthouse News Service, inmates J.A.S. and J.M.N name Live Oak County and former jailers Vincent Aguilar, Israel Charles Jr. and Jaime E. Smith as defendants.

Former NBA star Allen Iverson has abducted his own children …  so says his ex-wife, and now she’s begging the court to force Allen to give them  back.

Tawanna Iverson just filed legal docs, claiming  Allen recently asked for permission to take their five kids on a short vacation  to Charlotte, NC from May 22nd-May 26th (and Tawanna agreed) but when May 26th  rolled around, the children hadn’t been returned.

The kids range in age  from 3 to 16 years old.
