Finally a Police Officer is Convicted of Killing an Unarmed Black Person

Roy Oliver, a former Texas police officer was convicted in the murder of 15 year old Jordan Edwards. This is a rare verdict in the series of killings of unarmed Black people in recent memory. The last time a on duty police officer was convicted of murder in Dallas County was in 1973. Daryl Washington, the attorney representing the Edwards family said “It’s about Tamir Rice. It’s about Walter Scott. It’s about Alton Sterling. It’s about every, every African American, unarmed African American, who has been killed and who has not gotten justice.” he stated.
