The lead content in Flint, Michigan’s water supply has dropped below the federal limit, state officials said Tuesday. “This is good news and the result of many partners on the local, county, state and federal levels working together to restore the water quality in the City of Flint,” said Heidi Grether, the director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. “The Flint water system is one of the most monitored systems in the country for lead and copper, and that commitment will remain to ensure residents continue to have access to clean water.” In 2015, it was revealed that lead from older pipes had leaked into the water supply. Multiple state officials have been charged with crimes surrounding the ensuing water crisis.
