Kwame Kilpatrick, former mayor of Detroit, has put in a request to be released from prison on bond, but the U.S. Attorney’s office is not agreeing. They feel that this request should be denied. Kilpatrick and co-defendant Bobby Ferguson are currently awaiting sentencing for multiple federal corruption charges which include racketeering. They were found guilty of these charges.

Both men have past parole violations and Judge Nancy Edmunds believes that they will be a flight risk should they be let out on bond. The money that the two were accused of stealing has not yet been found. Federal investigators are still researching the case as it is a large sum.
