Before Chance the Rapper blew up and became a world-renowned recording artist, he got a call from another famous Chicago rapper. According to musictimes.com, Common gave a call to Chance when he was younger and gave him some words of encouragement. ” I told him to keep following his dreams,’ Common said about the message he left on Chance’s phone. As it turns out the phone call was caused by a suggestion by Common’s grandmother. “Years ago, my grandmother asked me to call her friend’s grandson. ‘I want you to give him some words of encouragement,’ Common said about his conservation with Granny. It turns out that her friend’s grandson was on his way to be the most famous independent artist ever.  Common continued to acknowledge the brand that Chance has created and gave him nothing but props. “He streams his albums instead of selling them. He makes music from an unapologetically inspiring and Christian perspective – music that transcends age, race, and gender. He gives back to his Chicago community. And he does it all as an independent artist, without the support of a label.”
