Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas headed to the MLB Hall of Fame

Thomas had this to say when he when he spoke to the MLB Network about his being elected into the most exclusive club in all of sports, “This has been a stressful 48 hours. This is something that I will have to sit back in the next three or four days and figure it out because you can only dream so big, as this is as big as it gets for me.”

Next year’s vote could be even more crowded when Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, Carlos Delgado and Gary Sheffield become eligible.

Two straight strong classes will undoubtedly hurt those players right on the cusp of getting knocked off the ballot, as well as the steroid-era players, who may get closer and closer to being on the outside looking in for the rest of their lives. Another strong class also hurts some of this year’s first-ballot players who did not get enough to get in.

No matter what, there will be a debate about who should or should not get in, especially with the steroid-era players, but MLB HOF is truly the most exclusive of all the major sports; debating, complaining or just plain freaking out still will not take anything away from how amazing an honor it is to be forever enshrined in Cooperstown.
