Haitians Risk Their Lives to Reach the U.S.

When severe weather strikes in the Caribbean causing hazardous sea conditions and winds capable of large waves, the last thing you want to do is leave the harbor to sail the seas. But for more than 130 Haitians packed into a 40 foot sailboat, it was worth the risk to leave their native land and try against the odds to make the 500 mile trip from Haiti to the mainland of the United States.
