Hawthorne tattoo shop owner creates Batman art to help shooting victims fund

As a big Batman fan, the shooting really hit home for Masot.

“There is nothing more American than going to the movies,” he said. “I felt upset that something happened at a place where people were going to see a film about a character I am passionate about.”

Through his art, Masot decided to do something to help the people impacted by this tragedy. In the past, he has done numerous paintings of comic book icons such as Batman and the Incredible Hulk. He sells many of them and also displays some in his shop. His latest creation of Batman is an acrylic painting called “The Dark Night,” not Knight like the movie, but “Dark Night” to remember the night of the tragedy. Batman is standing by 12 tombstones, 12 roses and 12 empty trees for the 12 victims killed that night. According to Masot, the painting took him about six hours to complete.
