When St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Stephen Piscotty stepped up to the plate in the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, he could never have known what was in store for him. In what his manager and teammates later described to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch as “the toughest trip around the bases they’ve ever witnessed,” Piscotty was pegged with the baseball no less than three times in one inning:
