In Chicago Little Known Law Used to Boot Cars on Private Property

It seems over half the city has already agreed to allow this practice to occur.

My suggestion to the residents and visitors of Chicago, who think this is unfair, is to fight fire with fire. Use the same law(s) to stop the practice, which they use to start the practice. According to Chicago’s City Clerk Office, anyone can submit legislation. Patrick Corcoran, a spokesman for the Clerk’s office said they “only reviews formatting and not the content of the legislation, but will notify the affected aldermen of the proposal.”

Your local alderman is the one who passes local city ordinances within your community. The alderman who approved Joseph Grillo proposal was Alderman Milly Santiago of the 31st ward in Chicago. She said that “I met with him and went through the whole thing,” she continued. “We didn’t think it was absolutely necessary to have it introduced by me as the alderman.”

Chicago is a dirty city when it comes to business and politics; it is not what you know but who you know. So I’m not sure if this open door policy is extended to all citizens. But collectively, if the cause is great enough, some citizens can propose and help pass laws that can make a change. Sometimes when life gives you lemons, you got to make lemonade.
