Is privacy really dead? Should we care?

In the latest incident exposing just how little privacy we have, British news outlet The Register reported that Adobe spies on every single page you turn and every book you own and transmits the data in a way that is easy to intercept.

An investigation discovered that the Adobe Digital Editions 4 ebook reading software was collecting information including “the title, publisher, and other metadata, which was then sent to the company’s mothership – a server called adelogs, no less – in plain text over the internet.”

This lead ITWeb news editor Nicola Mawson to write an article boldly headlined, “Privacy is dead.”
