As reported by TMZthe veteran director has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. A family member told the media site that Singleton checked himself in earlier this week after experiencing weakness in his leg. A plane flight back from Costa Rica appears to be what triggered the medical ailment.

Doctors are currently performing tests and doing rehab for Singleton. Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to ask for prayers for Singleton, who was integral in introducing Black Los Angeles culture to mass media. The director most recently created the hit series Snowfall, and has been spending his time teaching at the USC Film School, instructing a course called Film and Culture. The stroke was considered to be mild, but doctors are still keeping a close eye on the veteran. We wish the legend a speedy recovery.
