Judging the RZA and DJ Premier Song Battle: It was Epic but DJ Premier could have done more and got the Victory

It started off with technical difficulties because RZA admitted that it was his first time going live. However, when it got to rolling, it was incredible. I will admit that prior to the start, I thought that Preemo had an advantage over RZA. The reason I believe that is because RZA songs are primarily from the Wu, but Preemo has a full list of albums with Gang Starr and outside artists.

However, I truly underestimated the power of the “W.” Shame on me for forgetting the impact of the music created from the producer of the greatest Hip Hop group of all time.  I mean it is hard for any producer to compete with RZA when he plays Method Man (the song), C.R.E.A.M, Can’t it all be so Simple, and You’re All I Need.  RZA played all those songs but played some killer joints like Assassination Day and Criminology.

The knockout punch for me is when he played “Long Kiss Goodnight” by Notorious BIG. I didn’t know he made that beat and when the song came on, it was just like a cherry on top. After all these years, it is something about Biggie’s songs that feels and sounds different when it comes on. It just hard to describe it, but his voice, his flow is just timeless. Now I know DJ Premier has more songs with Biggie, but I guess that the element of surprise of that song coming from RZA made it that much more dope.
