Justice Department looks closer at firing of black police chief in Pocomoke City, Md.

There is an increase of pressure and tension in the small town of Pocomoke City, Md. A month after the an-all white city council fired the town’s first Black police chief; the Justice Department has step in to investigate. Former Chief Kelvin Sewell filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that alleges he was removed for refusal of firing two black officers. The two officers complained to Sewell about working in racial hostile areas. Mostly black protestors held a rally in defense of Sewell and demanded the firing of Mayor Bruce Morrison.
