The strides made for Black female actresses in Hollywood has been steady but slow. It only has been recently that the first female actress has won a Golden Globe for a comedy series (Tracee Ellis Ross 2017)Last year, Tiffany Haddish became the first Black woman stand-up comedian to host Saturday Night Live. So to say the progress has been slow; would be an understatement. Which brings me to Forbes list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. Not surprisingly, none of them were Black. No Angela Bassett, or Taraji P. Henson, not even Thandie Newton or Zoe Saldana. Unlike some Black actors, like Denzel or Will Smith, who may crack in the top echelon of highest paid list with their White counterparts; the pecking order is a lot harder for Black actresses.
