Working under his his given name, Wasalu Jaco, the rapper’s “acrylic on canvas paintings featuring Jaco’s brilliantly colored hard-edged geometric abstractions stamped with his signature momento mori skull symbol in sculptural relief,” organizers of the exhibit said before its debut in September.

The exhibit, dubbed “Beta,” has been on display at the Ed Paschke Art Center, 5415 W. Higgins Ave. which originally planned to end its showcase on Nov. 30.

“I am thrilled to show my work in my home city of Chicago and the Ed Paschke Art Center,” Jaco said in August. “The themes I explore are perfectly suited for the art center’s mission to provide an accessible, open space for emerging artists.”

In March, Jaco debuted a series of paintings at Soho House in Fulton Market. In 2013, the rapper debuted “Wasalu Muhammad Jaco: Bound,” which featured photos, film and sound from famous museums, at Anonymous Gallery in New York City.

The paintings set to go on display at the Ed Paschke Art Center “display [Jaco’s] distinctive style and unique perspective on his own artistic journey and society in general,” museum officials said.

Grammy winner Fiasco, who has released five studio albums, is known for his socially-conscious, anti-establishment lyrics and a bevy of hits, including “The Show Goes On,” “Superstar” and “Kick, Push.”

The Ed Paschke Art Center, 5415 W. Higgins Ave., in Jefferson Park, is dedicated to showcasing the colorful and up-close paintings of people’s faces that made Paschke one of the most famous artists to call Chicago home.
