Martin Shkreli, 34, the drug company and hedge fund executive, was found guilty of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy in a Brooklyn courtroom on Friday. The cocky businessman who is also known for paying $1 million dollars for a Wu-Tang Clan album was convicted on two of the possible seven charges brought against him. “At the end of the day, we’ve been acquitted of the most important charges,” Shkreli said to reporters after the trial. The maximum penalty for his charge is 20 years, though it is unlikely he will face that. His attorney Benjamin Brafman mentioned that Shkreli may avoid prison time or get a “much, much lower” sentence than expected. No word was given about when he get sentenced for the crime.
