U-M will pay Middle Tennessee State $1.6 million for the teams’ 2019 matchup at Michigan Stadium.
It’s one of the largest sums Michigan has paid a visiting opponent. The Wolverines paid Central Florida $1.5 million for a 2016 game and will pay Army $1.5 million for a 2019 game.
The Wolverines announced the MTSU and Army games for the 2019 season on May 4.
The contract, obtained through a public records request, is for the Aug. 31, 2019, game in Ann Arbor and was officially signed April 12 by Middle Tennessee officials.
Many of the standard U-M contract clauses are in the document, giving Middle Tennessee 500 complimentary tickets and the option to purchase another 3,000.
Band members, cheerleaders and the mascot will be admitted for free.
