New ATF Agent In Charge Of Chicago Says Gangs In Chicago Has No More Structure

In November 2016, Celinez Nunez was selected to be in charge of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms  (ATF) crime force in Chicago.  Nunez who grew up in Chicago talked to WBEZ.org about how the murder of her cousin in Chicago inspired her to go into law enforcement. She also made mentioned how the landscape of the gang culture has changed in Chicago from the 90s opposed to now. “I don’t see the structure that these local gangs used to have back in the late-’90s and maybe early-2000s. It’s really scattered now. Before I remember there were rules within gangs — you don’t shoot at kids, you don’t shoot and rob elderly people.” she said. To read the full interview click here.
