New England Patriots Used Running Game and Defense to Win Sixth Super Bowl Championship

Prior to this year’s Super Bowl game, the talk was how the Los Angeles Rams were going to stop the passing of Tom Brady. It turns out the emphasis should have been on the running game. Running backs Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead 94 and 43 yards respectively helped control the game and put New England in a position to win.

It was the first Super Bowl where neither team scored a touchdown after three quarters. One touchdown drive with timely passes to Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski helped get into the end zone and get the only touchdown of the game. An interception by Rams quarterback Jared Goff and a second field goal by Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski sealed the game. Julian Edelman was the MVP of the game with 141 receiving yards.
