New Era Chicago Striving to Make a Change in the Hood

On a Thursday evening at Union Missionary Baptist Church, a small church located on Chicago’s West Side, you could see a black man and woman standing in front of the door with a clipboard. Their greeting to the people that walked towards the door was “Peace King and Peace Queen.” Both individuals had a welcoming smile while politely asking for a quick search of your belongings and a signature of your name on the clipboard.
