Nike Officially Confirms the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red”

This will be only the third time that the “Fire Red” colorways has been retroed, and it will be the first time since the original release in 1989 that “Nike Air” is featured on the heel instead of the Jumpman logo. The “Fire Red” Nike Air Jordan 4 was one of four OG colorways that dropped in 1989 and the first Air Jordan to be released globally.

Michael Jordan wore this model when he made “The Shot” against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, sending the Chicago Bulls to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and adding to the legendary status of the silhouette.

As the colorway’s name suggests, the “Fire Red” AJ4 features a white base with black and red highlights on the midsole, mesh, heel, tongue, and sock liner. While the release is still rumored to be on Black Friday this year, stay tuned for official confirmation. Until then, read our comprehensive guide on the history of the Air Jordan 4.
